COVID-19 is a virus pandemic which has already been declared a global health emergency. The social disruption it has caused continues to threaten the socio- economic fabric of nations worldwide and governments all over are juggling between ensuring the safety of individuals on one hand and sustainability of businesses and employment protection on the other hand. All businesses, regardless of size are currently facing serious challenges with a real threat of decline in revenue, impending job losses or ultimate closure. Undoubtedly, the pandemic has led to global economic and labour shocks and uncertainty continues to grow regarding its actual impact on employment contracts with the employers unsure of how to maintain a functioning business while protecting the employment and labour rights of the employees.
